A Wonderful Adventure is a theatre company specialising in the fantastical, magical and historical. We were founded in 2017 to create work specifically designed to entertain people of all ages and provide innovative productions to excite, enthuse, motivate and trigger imaginations.
Previous work includes: 'Tales of Christmas Past', were A Wonderful Adventure reanimated three traditional Christmas stories. 'Spectres of Poe', a chilling collection of works by Edgar Allan Poe. They were commissioned to direct and adapt 'The Dancing Elephant' for Black History Month 2016 after the success of 'African Folk Tales' at the same event the previous year. As well as adapting and directing Imagine That’s production of ‘The Tempest’ performed at The Southwark Playhouse in 2015.

Halie graduated from LJMU with a first-class BA Hons in drama. She wrote her final year dissertation entitled ‘Children’s Theatre: A second class citizen?’ Where she evaluated the state of children’s theatre in the modern drama scene. She has significant experience of working with children, as she has been involved in several of the Oldham Coliseum’s young people’s theatre workshop programmes, acting as a workshop leader.
After graduating Halie worked at Legoland Discovery Centre, Manchester, directing and performing in the Lego Pantos for the Trafford Centres Fireworks Extravaganza aimed at family audiences.
Conceived and directed The London Dungeon Puppet Takeover and taught puppetry at Shrek’s Adventure. Halie works with Merlin’s Magic Wand bringing “The Jester Factor” to students with profound, severe and complex additional needs, and a TIE production about Victorian child Labour, co-coceived and co-directed and acted in site specific gothic conundrum Sherlock Holmes and The Ripping Good Case. Halie starred in “Alien: Escape” aside the legendary monster from the Alien franchise. She was featured as the Clerk in “Trump on Trial” a promotional video for The London Dungeon and played Mrs Lovett from Sweeny Todd on Strictly Come Dancing, ITV. Halie has also served as associate producer for Peaceful Lion Productions from 2002-present.
George trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, graduating in 2007 with a distinction in acting. He has performed in a wide variety of different productions. He recently played the title character in “Macbeth” and Malvolio in Twelfth Night for Purple Cast Productions. Other credits include, Ganya in “The Idiot”, Leontes in “The Winter’s Tale”, Ivan in “Ward no. 6” Benedick in “Much Adoo About Nothing”, Bobchinski in “The Government Inspector”, Bob in Cutlery Wars”, Mercutio in “Romeo and Juliet”, Two runs of the children’s musical “You Beautiful Ewe”, The one man play “Vincent”, Lead Actor in “Six Characters in Search of an Author” The Beast in “Beauty and The Beast”, Benjamin in “Five Sides of a Circle” and Scrooge in “Grumpy Old Scrooge”. He has lead and facilitated workshops for young people, and people with special needs. He worked for Peaceful Lion as a production associate.
George began his career in Bergen, Norway where he performed in many productions in rep, touring shows, outdoor theatre, film and television. He played the title role in “Jeppe on the Hill”, Max in “Death and Dancing”, Presley in “A Pitchfork Disney”, Meursault in “The Stranger”, Billy Bartlett in “Up the Green Lift”, the lead role in Coffee Boy (A reworking of Doctor Faustus), Klang in “Pippi Longstocking”, The Evil Count in “Journey to the Christmas Star”, Kader in “The Brothers Lionheart”, A in “Spaghetti”, and the one man show “Cellar Monologue” which was written for him. He took the part of Blåfar in the theatrical version of the TV-series “Jul I Blåfjel.” George appeared in many outdoor productions, including Fjoldne in “Haakon den Gode” and several physical buffo productions for the acclaimed company Bergen Byspill. He performed in “A Clockwork Orange” and “Emperor and Galilean” for The National Stage in Bergen. He has appeared in many Norwegian short films, adverts and the feature film “Just Working”. He has experience of performance art, clowning and stand-up comedy. He is currently based in London.
Together Halie and George have written, directed, produced and performed adaptations the African folktales “The Magician and the Sultan’s Son” and “The Ape, the Snake and the Lion” for Black History Month 2015 and were recommissioned to adapt, direct and perform “The Dancing Elephant” for Black History Month 2016. They performed, co-wrote and co-directed several historical productions including Lost Zoo and Back to the Green, the series of site-specific Animating History walking tours, Living Walworth, as well adapting co-directing directing and starring in Imagine That’s steampunk influenced production of The Tempest performed at Southwark Playhouse in 2015. A fantastical production that helped crystalize several aspects of our aesthetic. We co-founded and facilitated People’s Company with Southwark Playhouse, an over 25 theatre group for people to learn and explore theatre in a safe space. Halie and George where recruited by Rats with Wings for Les Musketeers du Trois, a physical theatre piece, featuring clowning, swashbuckling sword fights and absurdity. Helping in all aspects of the production from acting, design and production. We have performed entertainment for children at several one-off events for Cineworld, Nando’s and others. After a two-year collaboration as co-founding members with Imagine That, we decided to form A Wonderful Adventure to follow our hearts and focus fully on fantastical adventures, putting younger viewers at the forefront! Our first collaboration as a Wonderful Adventure was the Valentine’s Day promotional video #LoveVegas for Virgin Atlantic.
